Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy From the Perspective of Persian Medicine
Mohammad Saeed Kalantari Meybodi
Dear Editor, I recently read with interest the article entitled “Effects of Acupressure Applied to P6 Point on Nausea Vomiting in Pregnancy: A Double-Blind Randomized Controlled” written by Solt Kirca et al.,1 in the Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine journal, vol. 26, No. 6, 2020. In this study, the authors evaluated the severity of nausea and vomiting in a double-blind randomized clinical trial study. One hundred forty-nine patients were divided into acupressure and control groups. Assessment of severity of nausea and vomiting showed that nausea and vomiting were significantly decreased in the acupressure group.1 Pressure stimulation at P6 acupoint (Nei-guan) is a traditional procedure in Chinese medicine. It may reduce nausea and vomiting by controlling intestinal function.2 I would like to thank the authors of this article and explain the causes and treatment of Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy from another alternative medicine perspective. Nausea and vomiting are the most common illnesses in pregnancy, and affect up to 90% of pregnant women.
